Aids campaign follow-up!

The funny aids campaign featuring Frankensteins monster from last year has been succesfull. It will be launched again and a new poster has been added to the former two, especially for the gay community. Too bad they had to drop the Frankenstein theme, but lots of fun nonetheless!

100 years!

I was commisioned to paint a portret of a man who turned 100 last month. Because it was to be a surprise I could only use photo reference, always tricky. But it turned out quite well and the comissioner as well as the birthday boy were very happy with it. In the background I used some gold pigments. That works real well with the golden edge of the frame, and gave the piece a classic feel, without becoming kitsch.

My new website is online. I kicked out some outdated stuff and changed the navigation a little. I also designed a new font to go with it. Enjoy!

Putin reads the paper... and is not amused

This is a painting I did after reading the news about the brutal killing in Moscow of a journalist and a lawyer working for the newspaper 'Novaya Gazeta' (january 20th). This is one of the only newspapers who dares to question Putins regime. Last two victims are not the first to find out that doing so is apparently very dangerous...

My friend Dominic had the veins in his eye popped when he dove a little too deep in Egyptian waters. No serious harm was done but it looks freaky. Since he takes his appearance very seriously, I had to make some fun of him.

So this guy got the design from his girlfriend for christmas, and liked it a lot. He didn't waste time, and had it done right away. He once gave me a free alligator meal in Baton Rouge, three years ago, and now he walks around with my skeleton on his shoulder.
