Athletes galore

I was asked to design and illustratie an advertisement for GlückSpirale, a German lottery. They fund a lot of sport related projects. They wanted an illustration with many details, as many deferent sports as possible, and apart from that quite a large amount of information too. I started out by drawing a bunch of athletes to have something to start building with.

Than a general layout. There were going to be 5 illustrated information boxes and an infographic.

I tried to bring some order in the chaos. We decided to let the athletes not touch each other, because it looks like a battlefield that way. Still, I felt like the information boxes and other illustration did not work together very well. I placed the main information in the middle, and the athletes as a frame on both sides. Much better!

And in print it looks like this:

Sitting Duck

Made this drawing as a present for my mom. She and this duck became good friends, but the kitchen is off-limits now...

Future World Champion

Made a drawing of Hassan Necibov, a talented boxer from Berlin. A future champion for sure!

Concert posters

We have a few shows coming up with our Shantycrew. I made two different posters based on the old design.

on the countryside

I stayed at my friend Boris' place for a week to work on a comic project. He lives in a spectacular former monastery on the dutch countryside. Awesome!

Rappers

I had to illustrate an article about football-rappers. They take themselves very seriously, but looking and listening to the guys makes one laugh quite a bit... As always with 11 FREUNDE, this stuff is fun!

50's advertisement

The cool people at Lebensbaum asked me to paint a few advertisements for some of their new teas.
First I mede some thumbnail sketches.

Then preliminary drawings:

The question was weather we could show the cigaret and the whiskey. We tried changing the whiskey bottle for an old fashioned soda shaker. The thing is, lot's of people don't know such things anymore. The legal department decided that showing the whiskey bottle was ok, but the cigaret had to go. Instead I had to make the ashtray more recognizable, not one of those fancy 50's design thingies.

I added the detox tea and the first advertisement was finished. 3 to go!
